BYRD -- Michael E. Byrd, 1958-2010 Beloved son, brother, father, and brother-in-law passed away January 1, 2010, in Lampasas, Texas, after losing his battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen; sister, Diane and her husband Donald Lacen; children, Melody and Shawn Byrd; stepdaughter, Kaylee Miller; love of his life, Carol Byrd; friend Carol McNiel and family of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Eldorado High School where he was active in band. Mike's passion was playing the drums and for many years he was a drummer in the band Off the Wall. Services are to be determined and will take place in Albuquerque, NM.

Mike Byrd was a close and personal friend. Many years ago, (when we were still quite young), we had to work together on several levels; Music, entertainment, night clubs, living conditions, night time, day time, sound, telecommunications, organizing and arranging parties and events, and deal with all the personalities that were around us that go with all that.

We adapted very well and became the best of friends.
Now thirty some years later our lives drifted apart and we became different people. Hadn't talk to each other in over twenty years and yet I was in Albuquerque the morning he passed away in Texas. I spent most of the morning with his wife Carol reminiscing about old times, thinking about the good times, and catching up from all the years gone by.

When Mike and I met, it was just before my 18th birthday.
As a young person he taught me to believe in myself and the one thing Mike always conveyed to me was that he believed in me. He believed I could do anything. I have survived severe toxic black mold poisoning and I am starting a nonprofit organization to help others who have suffered the same fate. The link below is a fund raiser to help get the new nonprofit started in 2015.
